Enter by the Back Door

When director Judith Helfand's parents install vinyl siding on their house, she sets out with filmmaking partner Daniel B. Gold to find out the truth about the toxic manufacture and corporate corruption behind a seemingly innocuous plastic product. From vinyl sided homes in suburban Long Island, to hushed cancer outbreaks in Louisiana and

Venice, Italy

, this vibrant exposé tracks vinyl's shocking history with willful irony and a healthy dose of humor.

WELL Strategic Planning Meeting

Sunday, January 20 - 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Willits Council Chambers –

111 East Commercial St.

On July 22, 2006 the WELL membership approved its first official Strategic Plan which was used to guide our first Coordinating Committee as we worked our way through the 2006 and 2007 year of operation.  Of the one year goals set by that Strategic Plan, most were accomplished and a few were not.  It is time to consider what WELL wants to accomplish in this next year.

On January 20 we will gather in the Willits Council Chambers to do just that.  While the format of the meeting is still being considered, the Coordinating Committee is committed to hearing what the membership of WELL wants our priorities to be in this next year.  If you like the way we are preceding, please show up and say so.  If you think we should be concentrating on alternative opportunities, please be there to say so.

Have you talked to your Supervisor lately? It's a good way to be heard!

Come to the second Town Hall Meeting with Third District Supervisor - John Pinches Thursday, January 24th, from 6:45 to 9:15

at the

Willits

Community Center

,

111 E. Commercial St.

 .

The first meeting (October 25, 2007) was well attended and had some lively and informative conversation.  Join us again as we bring County politics out of the Board room back to the home district where you can have a face to face conversation with your
Supervisor about issues that matter. Bring your issues to the table!

The event is co-sponsored by the Willits Chamber of Commerce, Willits Economic Localization; Little Lake Grange; Willits Environmental Center; the Mendocino County Railroad Society; Briar Patch, a small business support group, and the Willits Action Group.

Join Parker Watwood and Hina Pendle from the Foundation of Sustainable Living (FOSL), for a program hosted by Willits Economic LocaLization

(WELL) on Jan 27th at 11:30 following the monthly Grange breakfast at the Little Lake Grange, Willits. They will update us on FOSL and support WELL's vision and momentum for creating sustainable community.

Ask yourself: How much time do we have left for a shift to a sustainable lifestyle? Would you like Green retirement rather than the choices available today, with a useful dignified purpose? Does your community provide the best education for all ages? Education today needs to focus on the social and technical skills necessary for sustainable living for all ages?

FOSL is working on it!!

The members of FOSL, Foundation of Sustainable Living, are ordinary people with extraordinary commitment to a sustainable future. They have been building community for living sustainably.
